Your thesis idea: 

My newest book is a novel about the difficulty about living in peace after experiencing war

Why you are a writer: 

I found writing, rather than set out to be a writer. I was in law and found that policy and laws weren't really about the story of people, the stories that tell us about ourselves, about the big ideas of justice and love and acceptance--to be truly involved in that discussion, i needed to tell stories,

First thing you ever wrote: A poem about Jesus on the Cross, a sonnet, that rhymed, and the nuns said, I would have won the contest, but i misspelled crucifix.

What your writing practices are? How often? How long? Where? With? Etc.

I write 6 days a week, a minimum of 2 hours; on writing days, i write all day long, often with people on writing dates. 

Anything else you wan to tell us?

We aren't rigorous about being writers, only writing students. We need to think about our writing rather than "what's due."
