I apologize for neglecting the blog, but here I am with a post for this week :)
I wanted to post before about how much inspiration I got out of meeting and chatting with Katy a couple of weeks ago. Not only did we have that opportunity to vent about some frustrations, but we also got to bounce ideas off each other and come up with some approaches, as you have already seen with Katy's work. I've also caught up with Kate outside of class, and we do more venting of frustration than idea-plotting, but I like that and appreciate it. We all really get each other when it comes to irritations and whatnot, and I feel the support for my project from my group. Hopefully they feel the same from me.
Now in terms of my project, I finally got to work out the kinks of the plot for my individual stories which was really hindering me from writing more. Right now I'm pushing for those 35, and I do think this is some good writing, writing that I will be pleased to have people read compared to the first draft I turned in for workshop.
Here's something self-inspiring (and wrestling-related, so if you're not into it, you don't have to watch):
- This is one of my favorite Diva matches. Remember my list of inspiration posts? I made note that commonly black female wrestlers would be the least concerned with hair being a part of their identity while white women are more likely to be way too upset if little strands are on the canvas, and this match is THE example of that. The whole video is 4:11, so I'd suggest watching the whole thing if you're interested, but if not, skip to 2:20 to see what I'm talking about.
See you all Friday!
Ohhhh, I'm going to miss our little group so much. Your most recent draft seriously blew me away. It was such a delight to read and you better just keep sending me pages even after we're done with class because I'm so intrigued by what you're doing. You've really mastered building the suspense, and have come so far to overcome your early kinks and issues.
ReplyDelete(I'm at that point in senior year where I'm just getting really mushy and clingy with everybody/thing. Sorry 'bout it.)
